Join our resident craftmistress, Artist and Educator, Daniella D., for this fun crafternoon of marbling techniques and creation. Marbling consists of layering ink colors together within water, to create beautiful, swirled effects resulting in your own versatile artwork creations.
Suminagashi is a simple and ancient technique originating in Japan, but quickly produces colorful, vibrant art with endless variations. We'll work with high quality, non-toxic Japanese inks. that magically form artistic patterns when added to a few inches of water. Although this centuries old art form originated in Japan, it transitioned to Turkey and Persia in the 15th century, with different techniques and styles emerging. It later spread to Europe, in England and Italy for example, producing further varieties of marblized art and techniques for application.
The therapeutic effects of this class are instant. Working with both water and inks, to quickly produce beautiful and unique art, calms and soothes the mind. You will be working alongside other local creative people in the enchanting Hekate environment. You'll meet local creative spirits and some spirited creatives.
All materials for marbling provided.
